Project Details

These homeowners purchased a Minnetonka condo from the early 2000’s to become their forever home. They loved the location of the building, the layout of the unit, and the gorgeous views of nature through the condo’s many large windows. Yet, while they loved many things about this condo, it was very outdated in both function and aesthetic. There was poor use of the space throughout the entire condo, dated plumbing and fixtures, and the bathrooms all felt dark and gloomy with no access to natural light. The entire condo had a look and feel that didn’t match their tastes or style, and they knew that as it was, it would never feel or function like home. So, they set out to remodel the unit – and do whatever they could within the limitations of the the condo setting to make it their own!

As part of the condo remodel before the couple moved in, the primary bathroom was reconfigured, the guest bathroom was updated, and the powder room was refreshed and redesigned. All three bathrooms were given new and improved plumbing, lighting, surfaces, fixtures and features. The homeowners love the style of function of the new bathrooms in their condo, and they adore showing them off to friends and family when entertaining, which they do often!

Hollywood Regency Art Deco Design

The entire condo unit was redesigned before these homeowners moved in, and a stunning new aesthetic, built around Hollywood Regency design, was carried into all three bathrooms in the home. The modern look, elegant comfort, and fun, stylish look fits the homeowners’ personal aesthetic, and all of the condo’s three bathrooms match the new look and feel of the unit – each in its own, unique way.

The polished marble floor of the entrance and bar in the space, luxurious besides being long-lasting, was carried into the bathrooms to create a cohesive look and feel throughout the home.

In the powder room, visible from all primary spaces in the condo, a high quality silver mylar vinyl wallpaper was selected, creating a vibrant, decadent look, with the bold pattern peaking out creating a statement and adding to the aesthetic, rather than distracting from it. The exposed silver between the pattern also helps create a vibrant and elegant look, creating the effect of the “center stage” powder room the homeowners dreamed of.

Plumbing systems were updated in all three bathrooms to meet modern standards, which involved a complete redesign of the plumbing and installing all new systems. The condo bathrooms now look and feel contemporary and fun, while having modern function and being energy efficient.

Strategic Lighting for Brightness

This condo unit had a good deal of large windows, but many areas were still dark and dim, especially the three bathrooms. The homeowners dreamt of brighter spaces throughout the condo, but being within a condo building and having condo restrictions to work within – no windows could be added.

Throughout the entire unit, we strategically placed decorative glass and mirror as a design solution for brightening the spaces. This strategy was carried into the bathrooms as well. In addition, this functional solution helped contribute to the overall aesthetic of the condo as well, while creating a cohesive look from the kitchen to the laundry room to all three remodeled bathrooms.

The homeowners envisioned unique and attention-grabbing lighting fixtures in the redesign, and fixtures that made a statement. Unique, bold lighting was added to all the bathrooms, each one creating a fun, unique, bold look and contributing to the striking new spaces.

The new lighting plan also incorporated dimmable LED strips in select places, such as the shower niche, allowing for both mood lighting and sophisticated flair. A motion censored light-up mirror in the guest bath is both fun and functional.

The Primary Bathroom: From Dated to Dashing

The only major floor plan changes of this condo remodel were in the master bathroom. The awkward built-in tub was removed, creating room for more counter space and an expanded shower. A sleek, new water closet was added, and the walk-in closet space was reworked to be much more efficient. The new primary bathroom layout, with the odd angles and awkward tub removed, makes much better use of the square footage available. The new bathroom can now easily accommodate two people getting ready at the same time, which makes daily living much easier for the couple.

The new design of this primary bath includes all updated finishes, both durable and attractive, new, modern plumbing, and striking, artful new fixtures. The relayout and new design of this space resulted in a streamlined and contemporary bathroom, bright and full of light, with a water closet and fully custom walk-in closet.

Triple Bathroom Remodel Success

The end result of this Minnetonka condo remodel is three modern, efficient and gorgeous contemporary new bathrooms which the homeowners enjoy every day, whether showing off to guests while entertaining or taking luxurious showers to start off the day.

They are overjoyed to have these hard-working spaces in their home now fun to look at, efficient, durable and built to last.
